Astonishing Works

“May I publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.”  Psalm 26:7

Astonishing Snails !

Snails are just one example of God’s wondrous works.
When we take the time to consider and learn all the details that God put into one small creature
called a snail I would hope we will find it astonishing and give thanks to our Creator for all of
His wondrous works !

The saying “slow as a snail” is true.  Snails are the slowest moving creature on earth.
Which causes me to think about perseverance.  Charles H. Spurgeon (English preacher of 19th
century 1834-1892) said  “By perseverance the snail reached the ark.”

Perseverance is steady persistence in a course of action, especially in spite of difficulties,
obstacles, or discouragement

Today, whatever we might be facing, let’s consider the snail and persevere in spite of what might
be in our path.  If we commit ourselves to keep moving forward, we will progress daily.

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us
—they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, Romans 5:3-4  [NLT]

Astonishing Fact:

“SNAILS have 14175 teeth laid along 135 rows on their tongue.”  Is this true?   Yes !

Snails have a rough tongue called a radula which is used to scrap against the food they want to
eat. The radula is defined as “a horny tooth-bearing strip on the tongue of molluscs that is used
for rasping food” [The World English Dictionary]  I would say it is kind of like a file that is
used to break up the food for eating.
